Javelin Semiconductor Closes Series C Funding
AUSTIN, Texas – May 12, 2011– Javelin Semiconductor, Inc., today announced that it secured $4.0 million in its third round of funding, which was led by existing investors Sevin Rosen Funds and Silverton Partners. Javelin plans to use the funds to begin volume production of its 3G power amplifiers (PAs) and to accelerate development of a complete portfolio of PAs covering all major 3G frequency bands. The company also is adding staff at its Austin location and its newly-opened Asian subsidiary.
“This latest round of funding ensures that we can ramp production of our products to meet the demands of our first customers going into the 2011 holiday season as well as continue development of our next generation of PAs. We have added key positions and expanded sales world-wide to support our growing customer base,” said Brad Fluke, president and chief executive officer of Javelin Semiconductor. “We expect the first Javelin-based 3G mobile handsets to be available in the market later this year. We look forward to announcing more details about our first customers at that time.”
Javelin’s top-performing 3G PAs provide excellent average current and the industry’s lowest noise implemented in standard CMOS technology. The company has 16 patents on its innovative PAs, and is extending the architecture to cover all major 3G frequency bands. Javelin’s PAs represent a significant technological breakthrough that has the potential to initiate an industry-wide shift from traditional GaAs-based products to CMOS PAs.
